Description

Letter - C. M. Woolsey to Katharine McDowell Rice (see notes) Typewritten letter from C. M. Woolsey, Attorney at Law and Real Estate, Milton N. Y, to Katharine McD. Rice, Worthington Mass. Dated August 12th, 1923. "Dear Miss Rice, I received the nice letter and the newspapers you sent me, and want to thank you for the same. The papers give an excellent account of the anniversary, and I read Professor Rice's address with much interest. I regret that I was not able to attend the services. . . The monument man, Smith, at Westfield, has put up a nice stone with proper inscription to the grave of Timothy Meech along side his first wife who had died several years previous to his death. In the papers I was quite interested in what Judge Brewster said at the services. Jonah Brewster was the executor of the estate of my grandfather Cyprian Meech. I suppose he was an ancestor of the Judge. I remember how my mother often spoke of the Rices, Brewsters, Starkweathers and others, so they were all living and prominent in her day when she left Worthington a hundred years ago. . . "
