These falls descend to a deep and cold water hole which has long been used for swimming. They are also associated with the legend of Lover's Leap. Black and white glossy photograph. Note shed behind the building apparently used for queuing horses during service. This chapel was fashioned from an existing store in 1849. The present (1999) Worthington Museum is modeled after this chapel, which collapsed in 1995.

Description
An account of the resource
This is a framed photograph of the West Worthington Methodist Chapel and is on permanent display in the South Vestibule of the WHS. This building was owned by Rose Parker in 1984 and used as a vacation home. It was located on Route 143 and its roof fell through before it could be moved to the current location of the WHS and used as the Historical Society's meeting house. It was torn down in 1996. (identify Ted Claydon) It is the model for the WHS. The lectern from the church is owned by the museum; it was restored by Sue Fisk. The front stone steps of the original church are the stone steps of the museum. The lectern and steps were the only usable parts left from the original building.

Black and white photograph of the West Worthington Methodist Church. This picture is featured alongside details of the origins of the church, its finances, its members, etc. in The South Worthington Parish by Rev. George Reed Moody (1905), pages 82-84. According to a WHS member, 'the current (2018) Worthington Historical Society building (built in 1998) is fashioned after this building which collapsed after a snowstorm in the late 1980's or early 1990's. The WHS had originally planned to move this building to the site of the present WHS building. The plans were abandoned when it was found that the move would be too difficult.'

Dear Teacher.
I received your letter last night and I will try and ansr it to day. I will tell you about my
vacation this summer.
We began haying in July. We cut part of our grass first. Then we went down to Uncle Jim’s
but I was sick at first so I did not do much down there, but when we got to up home agen, I
hat to mow a little and spread most all of the gras. I had to rake after the cart. And some
time load, and once I try to pict it on but after I got on a little I had to give it up. When we got
almost through, Frank went over and help Mr. Nobles about a week. When Mr. Cone got
through haying, we began tp play ball down in his mowing. We played there most every
Saturday and once we played Monday afternoon. We had company from Springfield. He
stay about two months up here. When he was up here we went trouting two or three times.
We caught about three hundred. We went afishing on the pond we caught about seventy
pickerels and about twenty bull heads. One night when we the Bullheads, we had
something kept biting all the time. Once he gave a quick pull and he pulled out an eal. I
should think it was about three feet long.
