The women were identified as Bessie and Nancy Trow when another copy of the same postcard was posted on social media. Someone had annotated the postcard with the words "Bessie Trow on the load and Nancy pitching in" in pencil. Closeups of the women's faces resemble other photos of Bessie and Nancy Trow.

Town Hall was built in 1855 in the Greek Revival style. This is pretty much the way it look for the first seventy-five years before the first WPA addition in the 1930s.
