    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[This is a block of granite which serves as a sample of the NH granite used for the Gettysburg PA monument to 41 Commanders of the Civil War &#039;not hitherto memorialized.&#039; This memorial (whose picture is in the Photographic Data Base #  2006-128, please see) was unveiled on September 9th, 1925, Designed by Edward Peace Casey, New York City. It is semi circular, with 18 panels. On them are inscribed the names with rank of the 41 Division and Brigade commanders and also a list of the cavalry and artillery ..... &#039;The name of our Uncle James Clay Rice who became Brig. General is incised on the wall of the monument on left of the coat of arms, first column of names. Josephine Rice Creelman spoke at the dedicatory exercises as representative of her uncle.&#039; this information was taken from writing on the cardboard backing of the photograph of the memorial. This shows that Ray Magargal was a private, given the one star on flag. The flag is painted on a tarp like material. It lost part of its gold fringe on the bottom after being displayed in Grand Opening Exhibit in 1999.
