    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Household Implement - Leather Tooler This leather tooler is wooden and metal. It was used to tool saddles, etc. with a name or a brand and could have been used by Rice in the Civil War. It is finely made, the wooden handle is polished and the metal tip is joined to the handle with a brass ring which is stamped with a design. This object was in a glass case in the Rice Room at the library. Apparently General Rice had a beautiful saddle which has not been found in Worthington. ]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Household Implement - Fleam This is a fleam according to Catherine Rude-Sena.It seems to be a letter opener and is in half a case, which is made of leather and is deteriorating. Stamped on the metal spade-like head is the name of the manufacturer (Rodgers): The purpose of the fleam was to let blood from both humans and animals in order to test it for medicinal purposes. Rodgers was &quot;Cutler to Her Majesty.&quot; It is made of rosewood and is polished. It is a pristine example of a tool of its type. Often there was a blood bowl or set of bowls associated with this object. This object was in a glass case in the Rice Room at the library.]]></dcterms:description>

    <dcterms:description><![CDATA[Household Implement - Sander This is a sander which was used in the 18th and 19 centuries to refine sand to its finest so it could be shaken over fresh ink in order to dry it. It is made of maple wood and is polished. It is on a stand with felt on the bottom. The stand holds a cup shaped object which is pierced in a star pattern with small holes. The bottom and top are of one piece. This could be due to the swelling of the wood. Possibly it separated and often there was a brush in the bottom half. This sander was in a glass case in the Rice Room at the library. this is according to  Catherine Rude-Sena.]]></dcterms:description>

Written in ink on front: STORIES FOR ALL THE YEAR, Clippings, etc. RICE MEMORIAL. Contains newspaper clippings, mostly from a clipping service related to Rice&#039;s &quot;Stories for all the Year for Boys and Girls&quot;. Also reviews. Starts on April 9, 1895 with clipping from the Northampton Daily Herald. Most from spring and summer of 1895. Ends with one clipping from 1896. Also contains catalogue of &quot;Frederick A. Stokes Company Xmasse Bookes, Kalendars/ Workes of Fiction, MDCCCXCV - MDCCCCXCVI.&quot; (1895-1896)  that refers to Rice&#039;s book, &quot;Stories for all the Year.&quot;  Also included is Frederick A. Stokes Catalogue &quot;Many Newe Thinges for Ye Lovers of Bookes&quot; Anno domini MDCCXCV (1895) which refers to Katharine McDowell Rice&#039;s &quot;Stories for all the Year&quot; on page 11. Both catalogs are in the back of the scrapbook. N.B. Description of book: &quot;A series of delightful stories. With twenty-five half-tone engravings after original designs by W. St. John Harper, many of them full-page. Most of these stories have appeared in &#039;St. Nicholas, Harper&#039;s Young People, &#039;and other well-known magazines.&quot;]]></dcterms:description>
