<dcterms:description><![CDATA[Copy of Form B pertaining to Alderbest, home of Richard B.and Beverly R. Fairman Smith at 85 Huntington Road. Constructed in 1916, and moved from 24 Buffington Hill Road on that date. Description reads: "The name given by Katharine McDowell Rice to the property . . . when it was owned by Rose Dabney Forbes (1917-1944). This 14-acre parcel was left by Rev. F. S. Huntington for a library to be situated between the two villages of the Corners and the Center. The trustees of the will of FSH sold the property in three parcels, having decided that the library would be better situated at the Corners. The three parcels were reunited into one parcel under the ownership of Ms. Forbes. Two buildings situated on th south side of Buffintton Hill Road between 10 Buffington Hill and Wards Stream were taken down and reconstructed at 85 Huntington Road. . . Assessors records list a house and a shop on 3 1/2 acres to George Allaire in 1917. the structure closest to the brook was rebuilt into the house, and the dwelling to the east became the blacksmith shop located closer to Huntington Road near the second green of the Golf Course. Records show Abby C. Otto Hewitt as owner in 1907 and her daughter Dorothy remembers living there as a small child. The house was used as a missionaries retreat during the ownership of Rose Forbes with K. McD. Rice as warden and Walter Buxton caring for the property under the direction of the warden. Property was sold to Wilbur Eddy in 1943 and then to Clarence and Helen Smith in 1944; then sold to Richard B. and Beverly F. Smith in 1954 and dwelling was converted to year round use. Also contains copies of photos of Alderbest in situ.and map sketch of current lot on Huntington Road.]]></dcterms:description>
