It reads: &quot;Ernestine Perry - lives in Maryland with her son. In 1952 on a  Washington School trip from the Huntington High School, because Ernestine was &#039;colored&#039; the class was treated differently, such as: - couldn&#039;t walk on the same side of the street as white people; - some restaurants wouldn&#039;t let them in; - some theaters wouldn&#039;t let them in. It was a different experience for these students from rural New England&quot; [who were not aware of such prejudice.] [Interestingly, the class stood by Ernestine and none of the students went to the places not available to Ernestine.
