Description

Sepia postcard from sample book of Herbert Berniss Thrasher (1884-1927), photographer. Titled: 'Summer Time' Worthington, Mass.' From church in distance this appears to be South Worthington. (#23). Thrasher was the son of George M. and Hattie Lyman Thrasher. Guy Thrasher was his brother. The sample book was produced during the 1920s when H. B. Thrasher was living and working in Florida. The images are undated but are probably quite a bit earlier, ca. 1910-1915.
The image of the left was scanned form a postcard in the collection of Gary Roy; the one of the right is from the Thrasher sample book. The women were identified as Bessie and Nancy Trow when another copy of the same postcard was posted on social media. Someone had annotated the postcard with the words "Bessie Trow on the load and Nancy pitching in" in pencil. Closeups of the women's faces resemble other photos of Bessie and Nancy Trow.
