Description

Unidentified House. Many of these dryplate glass negatives are in The South Worthington Parish Book by Reverend George Reed Moody. Please see this book for further information. They were originally entered into the database with little identification. The photographs were taken between 1882 and 1907 by the Howes Brothers of Ashfield. The origin and purpose of the number often written on the binding tape of these dryplates are presently unknown. The slides were cleaned and catalogued by Marion Sweeney between 1982 and 1986. (Not in Moody Book.)
This house was old and in ramshackle condition, but lived in when the photograph was taken in the upper 19c. There are vines growing along the roof gables; the chimney, clapboards and front door are all in poor condition. There are gardening tools, obviously in current use outside the front door. The axles of a buggy that is obviously not in current use is in the garage section to the right. All windows glazing is intact.
This picture was taken in early June; fruit trees are in blossom; most deciduous trees are mostly foliated.
The number, 1115, is written on the binding tape.
