Description

The 1783 Sam Hill house was moved in 1987 to its third location on Prentice Road. When it was reassembled in 1990, and placed on a cement slab, it was noticed that the members had two sets of marks, indicating that the original location of the three-quarter-cape was different from that where the house had been found before its third move. One suspects that the humble house was built slightly lower on the hill and soon thereafter moved to its second location. In 1995 the house was renovated to include guest quarters on the second and 1/4 of the first floors, and a garage in 3/4 of the first floor. It is worth noting that the kitchen of this house was used as a dancing venue in the early years. That kitchen ell is no longer attached to the main part of the house but is now on Thayer Hill Road.
